Choir at MPS

Mitcham Primary School values the Arts and involving students in a range of extra-curricular activities. One such example is our school choir.

The ‘Mitcham School Choir’ is made up of students in Grades 3 to 6 and is directed by Mrs. Natalie Wickham. They rehearse on Thursday afternoons during school hours.

The students in this choir undergo auditions simply for voice placement purposes and for the experience of being in an audition.

Our choir sings the national anthem on stage every week at assembly. We also perform at special school events, which have included our Open Day, School Fete and the Community Evening.

The choir has participated in a choir exchange with another primary school. This is usually an afternoon/evening or a half day event where we host another school and their choir, learn a song together and perform together for parents at the end of the rehearsal. We have enjoyed being hosted by Antonio Park Primary School in the past and we have hosted them as well.

At Mitcham Primary School, we look for opportunities to take our choir into the community. Our students have performed at the Mitcham Private Hospital and we look forward to future performances there.
