Reconciliation Action Plan
RAP Vision Statement
Mitcham Primary School envisions reconciliation as embracing, learning from, and building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Through authentic partnerships, we strive to cultivate a profound respect for the histories, cultures, and wisdom of Australia’s First Peoples, making their contributions and perspectives central to our ongoing journey of reconciliation.
We recognise that reconciliation is a continuous process, one in which our entire school community plays a part in meaningful discussion and learning about truth-telling.
We aim to honour the spiritual connection First Nations peoples have to the land, sky and waterways, and to enhance our understanding of their values and perspectives. Our goal is to walk together in harmony and acceptance, establishing respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community.
Our vision is to support a future where all Australians value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, peoples and histories as a founding and integral part of a shared national identity.
A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a formal commitment to reconciliation.
We dedicate this plan to the Wurundjeri Traditional Owners.
We respect and acknowledge their enduring, living culture.
Acknowledgement of Country
We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, learn and play: the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We recognise that through their deep connection to Country, the Indigenous peoples who came before us enriched our world with profound contributions in science, art, language, music, movement, and sport.
We celebrate their past, present, and future contributions and impact on our educational community, and endeavour to continue learning in the same spirit as we move towards true reconciliation.
Mitcham Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and true sovereigns of the land now known as Whitehorse. We acknowledge their creator spirit Bunjil, their Ancestors and their Elders past and present.
